Financial Aid Resources

Higher Education Partnership: Financial Aid Resources
Applying for financial aid is an important step for students attending college. If you are making such plans, you will need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by your college’s priority deadline. The FAFSA, is the official document used by all colleges and universities to determine a student’s eligibility for all federal, state and institutional financial aid.

Tips on How to Get Additional College Scholarships or Grants
  • Start ASAP search the Internet, and apply early.
  • Talk with your high school Career & Community Resource Coordinator about local and national grants/scholarships available.
  • Read the full requirements to make sure you are eligible right from the start. Avoid paying to apply for a scholarship, these are usually scams.
  • Follow all instructions and have someone else proofread it.
  • Check with the college you would like to attend.
  • Be active - being in a sports team, club or some type of community service will always better your chances at receiving a college scholarship.
  • Maintain your GPA!
