Mary Jo Hudson is a member of the Columbus Board of Education and chairs its Audit and Finance Committees. Prior to serving on the Board of Education, Ms. Hudson served as Director of the Ohio Department of Insurance under Governor Ted Strickland from 2007 until 2011, and also served as a member of Columbus City Council from 2004 until 2007.
Through her professional and public service, Ms. Hudson has worked on many community service and social justice issues including economic opportunity issues and education, access to health care, community arts support, leadership development for women and girls, and issues impacting the LGBT community. Ms. Hudson has served on the boards of United Way of Central Ohio, the Greater Columbus Arts Council, Mount Carmel College of Nursing, the Women’s Fund of Central Ohio and the Human Rights Campaign.
Ms. Hudson is an attorney and has practiced law in Columbus for over 25 years. She is currently a member of the Bailey Cavalieri LLC law firm and leads the firm’s Insurance Regulation practice group. Ms. Hudson graduated from the University Of Cincinnati College Of Law in 1988 and received her undergraduate degree in Public Administration from Miami University in 1985.
