School Choice Lottery
Columbus City Schools is modernizing the popular School Choice Lottery with a new paperless online process that begins earlier than in previous years. If your student is considering applying to another school in the District, you need to read the important information below.
Our District’s commitment to School Choice uniquely offers students a variety of high-quality educational options at all levels by giving families a choice on deciding where their children attend school to learn and grow. The School Choice Lottery is widely popular, with nearly 20,000 applications each year.
New Lottery Process for the 2017-2018 School Year
The School Choice Lottery Application process will begin earlier than in years past. Beginning in January for high schools and in February for elementary and middle schools with the new electronic paperless application process.
To access the School Choice Lottery, you will first need to log into the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. The School Choice Link located within the Parent Portal will allow you to submit your application(s), track waitlist numbers and accept or decline offers.
If your child is not currently a CCS student, you must complete the online enrollment process prior to submitting a lottery application. Parents are encouraged to utilize the online “SPEEDYPASS” registration process and schedule an appointment to present required enrollment documents. You’ll receive your Parent Portal access code at your enrollment appointment.

Important Deadlines
You must submit your School Choice Lottery Application by the deadline or risk being positioned at the bottom of the waitlist in the order the application is received.
High School Lottery Applications: Accepted via the Parent Portal January 9 through February 28, 2017

Elementary/Middle School Lottery Applications: Accepted via the Parent Portal February 6 through March 31, 2017

Selective Admissions – (Paper Applications): Letters given to eligible students on January 9, with a submission deadline of January 27, 2017

Selective Admissions for Arts Schools: (Duxberry Park Alternative School, Arts Impact Middle School and Fort Hayes Arts and Academics High School) Auditions and Meetings arranged by individual schools during the month of February, 2017

Request to Return to Homeschool Application: Accepted January 4 through March 17, 2017

Infinite Campus
Parent Portal
The online Infinite Campus Parent Portal process is easy to use. You might already be using it to monitor real-time progress on your student(s). The Parent Portal allows you to update emergency contact information, view course schedules, grades, attendance and assignments that have been turned in/or missing, even e-mail child’s teacher directly from the portal using the planner feature.
Before you can log in, you will need a Parent Portal Global Unique Identifier (GUID) Access Key. Each parent/guardian has a personalized GUID code. To get yours, contact your child’s school.
