Reading has been the highest priority for Columbus City Schools during the past school year, resulting in approximately 74% of third graders meeting the 392 cut score on the reading portion of the Ohio Achievement Assessment given this spring (a 32-point gain over fall of 2013 results).

To give the remaining 26% of students (959) every opportunity to reach the 392 reading cut score and promote their opportunity to advance to the fourth grade, Columbus City Schools has launched a summer school reading blitz, specifically designed to provide third graders with the skills they need to pass either the state reading assessment or a state-approved alternate assessment.
