Music Grants
By taking advantage of these upcoming music grants, schools can expand their music programs and provide students with even more opportunities to explore their creativity and express themselves through music.
- Music Education Grants through The Mockingbird Foundation, Inc. - The Mockingbird Foundation, Inc. offers grants to public schools and nonprofit organizations to support projects in music education. The primary focus is students, ages 18 and younger, with particular interest in projects that target underserved children. However, the foundation considers projects that benefit college students, teachers, instructors, or adult students. The foundation funds projects that foster creative expression and promote self-esteem in any musical form (including composition, instrumentation, vocalization, or improvisation), and encourages applications associated with diverse or unusual musical styles, genres, forms, and philosophies. Grants may be used to obtain instruments, texts, and other materials, and for the support of learning space, practice space, performance space, and instructors or instruction. Note that the foundation does not support music therapy programs. Round 29 is due January 15, 2024
- Request a Musical Instrument - Hungry for Music collects and distributes musical instruments, including brass, woodwinds, strings, electronic keyboards, drums, and other percussion instruments, as well as amps and accessories. Grants help music teachers and Title I schools who identify children who cannot participate back of lack of funding, music directors at innovative after-school music programs, and social workers who have young clients who would benefit from music therapy. This grant accepts applications year round from social workers and school counselors.
- Matching Grants for Stringed Instruments - Classics for Kids Foundation works to empower young people to shape positive futures through music, build sustainable stringed instrument music programs, and provide grants for high-quality instruments. The foundation strengthens string programs through their matching grants, which encourage partnership and local philanthropy. The foundation offers matching grants only, whereby schools and nonprofit organizations raise at least half the funds to purchase the requested number of instruments, using a provider authorized by the foundation or, after discussion with the foundation, an alternate provider of instruments of similar quality. Applicants have one year from the date of application to raise matching funds.
- Gewitz Fund Music Grants - The Gewirtz Fund’s mission is to inspire young students to deepen their connection with string music. They fund a variety of initiatives including a special focus on direct support of the unfunded priorities of organized string music programs, mentoring programs, and high-level concert experiences. The Gewirtz Fund will make discretionary grants to programs and initiatives that will have the greatest impact on non-profit music programs throughout the United States. Grants will be awarded throughout the year based on available funding, requests, and greatest impact. Eligible applicants are public and charter schools with music education programs and qualified nonprofit programs that directly fund music education serving grades 5 through 12 regardless of a student’s ability to pay. All applicants must have an existing music program and curriculum in place.
- Music Education Grants through Guitar Center Foundation - The Guitar Center Music Foundation awards instruments and equipment to eligible music instruction programs. These items are lightly used, blemished or otherwise imperfect and have been collected from manufacturers and retailers. The company believes that music inspires creativity and personal expression, builds self-esteem, and teaches cooperation and team building from playing music together. Rolling deadline. Instruments and equipment awarded.
