Capital Improvements
Columbus voters approved Issue 11 in November 2023. This provided, for the first time, approximately $60.5 million annually for permanent improvements to Columbus City Schools facilities. These dedicated funds support critical building systems, safety and security upgrades, and modern learning environments across the District.
Issue 11 funding is already delivering significant renovations at Mifflin High School, Devonshire Elementary School, and Scottwood Elementary School. Improvements include updated classrooms and interior spaces, new flooring and lighting, enhanced classroom technology, and upgraded safety features. These investments create safer, more comfortable, and more functional environments for students and staff while extending the useful life of each building.
This work is part of the District’s long-term commitment to maintaining and improving its facilities and complements the priorities outlined in the 2022 Facilities Master Plan.

Facilities Master Plan
In 2002, CCS introduced a new comprehensive Facilities Master Plan (FMP), forged through a cooperative effort between the District and the community to foster increased achievement by providing appropriate accommodations for students and academic programs, building foundations for learning. This FMP was updated in 2016 and most recently in 2022 through a year-long, community-led process.
Since then, forty-six District schools, serving more than 22,000 students, within Segments 1, 2, and 3 of the FMP have been renovated or reconstructed into 21st-century learning environments. Future segments of work will require additional financial support from the community.

In accordance with Ohio Revised Code 153.71, the district will maintain a Current Statement of Qualifications (CSoQ) file to allow direct procurement of professional design services for projects with an anticipated design fee that does not exceed $50,000.
