Fort Hayes Students Break Ground for New Student-Built Home

As a new year starts for Columbus City Schools (CCS), Forth Hayes’ Construction Trades students are picking up shovels and hammers to help Habitat for Humanity-MidOhio build a new home from the ground up on Gibbard Avenue for a local family through a partnership with the City of Columbus.

Linden-McKinley STEM Academy is building a legacy of student success by fostering a strong school climate and culture. First Look: Salem Elementary Unveils $6 Million Transformation Ahead of New School Year

Excitement followed every step through the newly renovated Salem Elementary School. For one student, their eyes lit up with excitement as they saw the student-inspired outdoor classroom where the celebration began, the bright hallways, sunlit classrooms, and brand-new playground waiting just beyond the doors. All this just one day before the rest of the Salem students returned, for their first look at a neighborhood school transformed for the next generation of Salem Sharks.

Ready to Roll: CCS Transportation Staff Train for Emergencies Ahead of New School Year

Before students step onto a bus for the 2026-27 school year, more than 600 Columbus City Schools transportation professionals gathered for hands-on emergency preparedness and safety training. Through the District’s partnership with the Ohio Department of Public Safety’s Ohio School Safety Center, drivers, aides, staff, and leaders practiced responding to serious situations with confidence, calm, and care.
