Fore! Fourth grade students had fun learning the basics of golf with PE teacher Mrs. Crist and instructors from The First Tee. Many students were teeing off for the first time thanks to The First Tee National School Program, which visits each year to give ISE's fourth grade classes an introduction to golf during physical education class. In addition to general beginners golf instruction, The First Tee program includes teaching their Nine Core Values and Nine Healthy Habits to help put students on the course to a healthy and active lifestyle. The curriculum meets the same national standards developed by the Society for Health and Physical Educators (SHAPE).
Teachers, students, their families, and our very own Principal Noble marched in Friday's Homecoming Parade at Whetstone High School. Despite the looming rainstorm, school spirit was on full display with kids and adults alike sporting Falcon and ISE logo t-shirts as they marched behind a "Team Indian Springs" banner. Also in attendance, our mascot: Fritz the Falcon!
On September 19th, Mr. Fath was surprised by CCS Curriculum Specialist, Heather Allen, with an award in recognition of his accomplishments. Between 2017 and 2018 Mr. Fath helped our fifth grade students increase their Science scores on our State Assessment by a monumental 20 percent! Congratulations Mr. Fath and thank you for all you do for our kids and school community!
Paint the Plow is a community outreach program in which students are invited to paint a City of Columbus snow plow blade with original artwork to represent their school and neighborhood. In addition to being visible when in service during the winter-weather months, the blades will be used at events within the school’s community to enhance public awareness, promote safety and foster greater appreciation of both the City of Columbus’ Snow Warriors and the school’s art program.
This year Indian Springs has been selected to decorate our very own 10' x 3' plow blade! Check back for updates and photos once our students have completed this fun project!
Other CCS schools in our area who have participated in this program include: Duxberry Park E.S. in 2015, Medina M.S. in 2016, and South Mifflin M.S. in 2017
As part of the district’s Operation: Fix It initiative, ISE has undergone multiple improvements to the building; most notably, the installation of an entirely new HVAC system. While the most obvious improvement is the addition of central air-conditioning to the building, this massive project has also resulted in improved ventilation of the building and an entirely new computerized control system to ensure all spaces are comfortable year round. This new HVAC system has delivered improved comfort, a reduction in sound levels and improved indoor air quality, all of which enhance the learning environment for our students. During this era of heightened awareness about school safety, teachers can also keep windows closed and locked while maintaining the comfort of their classroom.
Other improvements to Indian Springs over the summer included a fully upgraded fire alarm system, as well as repairs to the roof and brick exterior of the building.
