91 Students Earn the 2025 Seal of Biliteracy
June 5, 2025 -- With students in Columbus City Schools speaking over 100 languages, CCS continues to lead Ohio in multilingual excellence. This year, the 2025 Seal of Biliteracy was awarded to 91 students, making CCS the state leader for the third year in a row! This recognition celebrates students who’ve achieved proficiency in English and another language.
Many of this year’s recipients are former English learners, showcasing the impact of our district’s dedication to supporting all students. CCS is proud to consistently lead Ohio in the number of students earning the Seal of Biliteracy. This achievement is a testament to the strength of our school community and the collaborative efforts of our students, educators, and staff across the district.
To earn this prestigious state graduation seal, students must achieve a score of 700 on the ELA II OST or demonstrate proficiency on the 9-12 OELPA, along with an Intermediate High score on a language proficiency test in their chosen language. Students are evaluated for both their literacy and speaking abilities in the language. Our rich diversity reflects who we are and serves as a reminder that language is not just a skill—it’s a bridge that connects people, cultures, and experience
Thank you to the World Language and ESL Department, and a BIG CONGARATULATIONS to these students – we are so proud of them
