Columbus City Schools Celebrates Public Education Week
Jan. 27, 2020 -- At last week's regular business meeting, the Columbus Board of Education passed a resolution to celebrate Public Education Week, which runs from January 26 through February 1. The initiative is in partnership with Public Education Partners and the Ohio Coalition for Equity & Adequacy of School Funding.
Traditional public school districts in Ohio serve more than 1.8 million students and employ more than 245,000 Ohioans. The District believes that all children in Ohio should have access to the highest quality education possible. Quality education diversifies our economy, enhances the vibrancy of our community and is critically important to the economic vitality of our city and state.
Ohio, especially Columbus City Schools, has many high-quality school administrators, teaching professionals and support staff who are committed to educating our children.
Public Education Partners is a statewide nonprofit that was created to connect advocates that support public school districts and the children and families they serve, and the Ohio Coalition for Equity & Adequacy of School Funding was organized to challenge the constitutionality of the Ohio school funding system and secure high-quality educational opportunities for all school children in Ohio. These organizations have been fundamental in ensuring quality education for the students of Columbus City Schools and all school children in the state of Ohio.
The Columbus Board of Education urges all Columbus residents to reflect on the outstanding work of the Public Education Partners and The Ohio Coalition for Equity & Adequacy of School Funding and join the Board in expressing our gratitude for the critical role they perform for our students and families each and every day.
