New Student Welcome Letter

Dear Families,

Welcome to Centennial High School.  We hope this letter finds you rested as you prepare for the excitement of embarking on your high school journey.  We are writing to share with you information that is important to our new incoming students.

  • On August 15, 2018 we will hold our mandatory Freshman First Day Orientation. Students should arrive at Centennial at 8am and the event will conclude to 12:00pm. This event is a time for our incoming freshman to get to know Centennial, receive their schedules, locker assignments, pick-up books and interact with some of our junior and senior students.
  • Also, on August 15, 2018 from 11:30am-12:00pm we will be holding a freshman parent meeting. This meeting will provide parents with valuable information in regards to Centennial’s processes and procedures. This will also give parents an opportunity to meet administration and ask any questions that they might have.  Refreshments will be provided.

The second important item that we want to make sure that incoming families are aware of is regarding summer assignments for students.  Centennial High School believes that summer assignments are assigned as a means to foster life-long learning, reinforce academic achievement and to promote learning as an enjoyable activity.  All freshman are assigned a writing assignment and a math assignment.  There are also some additional assignments for students who will be taking Humanities 9 this upcoming school year.  Summer assignments should be completed by the first school day and are a component of the first quarter grade for freshman students.  Please make sure that you and your student review the assignments and complete them over the summer.

Summer assignments can be found on the Centennial H.S. webpage ( by clicking “Students” and selecting “Summer Assignments.”

We cannot wait to personally welcome you to the Centennial High School family and look forward to meeting you in August.  If you have questions please feel free to contact the main office at 614-365-5491. GO STARS!
