March 15, 2023 -- Columbus Africentric Early College won the OHSAA Division III State Championship this past Saturday with a monumental victory over Doylestown Chippewa, 75-62.
Africentric was led by second-year coach Janicia Anderson, while players Jeniya Bowers and Natiah Nelson both had 17 points to lead the team to their eighth state title in school history, which ties the Ohio record for most by a single school.
The Lady Nubians (24-4) missed their first shot, but proceeded to make 14 field goals in a row to open up the lead in the first quarter. In doing so, they tied the OHSAA Division III record for most points in a quarter (27). CAEC also broke the OHSAA record for most points scored in a Division III championship game with 75.
