TEDxOhio State University Partners With East Linden
March 31, 2021 -- In the last year, educators have faced pandemic-driven remote schooling and widespread inequities in education and society made evident by the virus.
Challenges seemed to grow, but so did the support from our community partners who continue to assist our Columbus City Schools students, teachers, and staff with everything from basic needs such as food and clothing to virtual learning platforms to access the curriculum.
“The pandemic of 2020-2021 caused East Linden teachers and staff to pivot quickly,” said Cheryl Jones, the Principal at East Linden Elementary School.
To highlight how teachers are adapting to the new world of teaching, TEDx Ohio State University is partnering with East Linden to share the stories of several amazing teachers.
TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, and Design. TEDx Ohio State University is a local, self-organized program that brings people together to share an experience and spark conversation.
“Our staff believes in rising up and supporting our East Linden/Mifflin township community,” said Ms. Jones. “We have been resilient during this unprecedented time, and we value others emotionally, spiritually, and socially. Our actions impact our school community, which is why East Linden chooses to be joyful, thankful, and grateful.”
Through their words and actions, watch and listen as Instructional Coach Tayana Patterson, third-grade teacher Emily Hartung, and second-grade teacher Sydnee Leathers navigate the new world of virtual school and how they face the challenges of mental health that require unique and adaptive solutions.
