Board Meeting Preview - August 1, 2023

Viewing the Board Meeting
The Columbus Board of Education regular business meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. at Southland Center (3700 South High Street).
Meeting attendees will need to enter the north-facing door toward the west end of the building.

The Columbus Board of Education will hold regular office hours before all regular business meetings from 5:15 to 5:45 p.m. The office hours will allow community members to meet with Board members one-on-one, to ask questions, and share their thoughts and concerns.
Meeting Agenda Topics
The meeting agenda topics include:
14.7 - Supporting Strong Learning Communities in Every Region, the Board will be asked to authorize the District to enter into an agreement with Wilson Language Training Corporation. It has designed training to support teacher knowledge and proficiency that results in increased student success. This program is aligned with the scientific principles of implementation science.
14.12 - Supporting Whole-Child Focused, Strong Learning Communities in Every Region, and Equitable Opportunities for All, the Board will be asked to authorize the District to enter into a purchase agreement with Scholastic Inc. The CCS At-Home Library Initiative provides all students in grades PreK-5 books and literary materials to build their home libraries.
17.4 - Supporting Authentic Engagement and Strong Learning Communities in Every Region, the Board will be asked to authorize the District to purchase video surveillance and electronic monitoring equipment for 21 schools as identified in the Ohio K-12 School Safety Grant Award. As a result of the ongoing district-wide security assessments and video camera standardization initiatives, services to repair, replace, and troubleshoot video camera systems are required to protect the health, welfare, and safety of families, students, staff, and visitors at CCS school property.
17.19 - Supporting Equitable Opportunities for All, the Board will be asked to authorize the District to purchase International School Bus and Truck Parts and Service from Rush Truck Centers of Ohio, Inc. Fleet Services is responsible for maintaining and repairing the District's vehicles, including school buses and trucks. To properly maintain and receive warranty services, original International School Bus and Truck parts, and an authorized service vendor must be used.
24.3 - Supporting Strong Learning Communities in Every Region, Authentic Engagement, and Equitable Opportunities for All, the Board will be asked to authorize the District to enter into a purchase agreement with Center for Educational Leadership (No. 217371) for supports school systems with contextualized professional learning. The University of Washington Center for Educational Leadership (CEL) supports school systems with contextualized professional learning to help leaders create equitable student experiences and outcomes.
25.4 - Supporting Equitable Opportunities for All, the Board will be asked to authorize the District to purchase instructional materials with McGraw Hill Education Inc. This will support the education program for students enrolled in the nonpublic schools who reside in the CCS attendance area and are served by CCS State and Federal Programs, Nonpublic Support Services. The products will be purchased to support the nonpublic schools as mandated by ORC 3317.06 and 3317.024.

Speakers will need to provide their name, topic, and phone number.
