The Columbus Board of Education’s regular business meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. at the District’s South Administrative Center, 3700 S. High Street.

The Columbus Board of Education will hold regular office hours before all regular business meetings from 5:15 to 5:45 p.m. The office hours will allow community members to meet with Board members one-on-one, ask questions, and share their thoughts and concerns.
Meeting Agenda Topics
The meeting agenda topics include:
14.1 - Supporting Strong Learning Communities in Every Region, the Board will be asked to authorize the administration to enter into an agreement with OptConn (Optical Connectivity Solutions). As part of a statewide program, 9 central Ohio educational partners (including CCS) will be developing an implementing a 5G/Broadband training program. The state is providing training and all necessary start-up equipment. The Workforce Development Board is covering the training costs of the 1st student cohort. Successful student completers will earn Fiber Optic Association Credentials.
16.1 - Supporting Equitable Opportunities for All, the Board will be asked to authorize the administration to enter into an agreement with the National Gas Sales and Service Agreement with Direct Energy Marketing Inc. The Office of Buildings & Grounds manages the natural gas commodity supply agreement. This contract is in conjunction with a consortium of Ohio school districts who collectively manage the gas purchases through the supplier that provided the lowest fixed basis charges.
19.2 - Supporting Strong Learning Communities in Every Region, Equitable Opportunities for All, and Authentic Engagement, the Board will be asked to authorize the administration to enter into an agreement with Penchura, LLC. The District continues its efforts to reduce the amount of deferred maintenance and to gradually improve the condition of district facilities through a series of targeted improvements across multiple disciplines at multiple facilities. This initiative will address Playground & Site Improvements at multiple elementary school facilities: Cassady, Como, Forest Park, Gables, Hamilton STEM, West Broad, Lindbergh, Weinland Park, Westgate, Windsor STEM, and Valleyview schools. Based upon the condition of existing systems, the sites were identified as a priority for playground and site improvements because the existing systems are at the end of their useful lives.
19.3 - Supporting Strong Learning Communities in Every Region, Equitable Opportunities for All, and Authentic Engagement, the Board will be asked to authorize the administration to enter into an agreement with Lusk Mechanical Contractors., Inc. The district will prioritize this project to maintain the condition of the existing Arts Impact Middle School (AIMS), a Facility Master Plan (FMP) facility. This facility was newly constructed in 2007 and is recommended for various improvements and lifecycle renewals to correct several inherent limitations and to generally restore conditions to like-new. As the district transitions to a system of lifecycle renewals, as well as future FMP projects, the district will continue its efforts to reduce the amount of deferred maintenance, maintain existing conditions, and to make targeted investments to stretch the life of existing assets aligned with future FMP projects. This refresh project entails renovations focused on the learning environments and includes replacement or significant improvements to the flooring, ceilings, painting, and lighting. It will also incorporate acoustic enhancements throughout the common spaces, restroom upgrades, replacement of the operable gymnasium wall, and exterior masonry repairs and cleaning.
19.4 - Supporting Strong Learning Communities in Every Region, Equitable Opportunities for All, and Authentic Engagement, the Board will be asked to authorize the administration to enter into an agreement with Prodigy Building Solutions, LLC. The district will prioritize this project to maintain the condition of the existing football stadium structure at Linden McKinley STEM Academy, a Facility Master Plan (FMP) facility. The existing stadium was renovated in 2012, and the weather protective coating on the stadium structure is at the end of its useful life and needs replaced to protect the structure and to ensure this facility continues to meet its intended use into the foreseeable future.This refresh project entails renovations and upgrades throughout the stadium complex, including removal of the existing aluminum seating, repairs of the existing concrete structure, removal of the existing weather protective coating, press box repairs, installation of new weather protective coatings, widening of the aisles and installation of mid-aisle handrails, repair and repainting of the existing railings, reinstallation of the existing bleacher seating, and installation of a new ADA compliant spectator seating section and ramping system.
19.5 - Supporting Strong Learning Communities in Every Region, Equitable Opportunities for All, and Authentic Engagement, the Board will be asked to authorize the administration to enter into an agreement with Dant Clayton Corporation. The district will prioritize this project due to the poor condition of the existing football stadium structures at Beechcroft High School, a legacy facility. The existing stadium structures do not comply with many modern requirements and as a result are recommended for major upgrades to keep the structures in service. This maintenance project entails upgrades to the home side structures including removal of the existing wood planking, painting of the steel structure, new aluminum plank decking, risers and seating, widened aisles, upgraded railings, and installation of a new ADA compliant spectator seating section and ramping system. Due to the condition of the visitor's seating, those structures will be removed and will be replaced with new seating which will be contracted separately at a later date.
19.6 - Supporting Strong Learning Communities in Every Region, Equitable Opportunities for All, and Authentic Engagement, the Board will be asked to authorize the administration to enter into an agreement with King Business Interiors. To complete the interior renovations planned for the Scottwood Elementary School and Mifflin High School facilities, a variety of furnishings, equipment and services are required. King Business Interiors will supply this equipment and services, some of which will be installed by the general contractor, already under contract for the general renovations. This contract will also include demountable walls, whiteboards, tack boards and miscellaneous furniture for both facilities.
