Educational Service Center of Central Ohio to Guide Process

April 24, 2024 — The Columbus Board of Education announced Tuesday evening, during its regular business meeting, its plans to begin the search for the District's next Treasurer/Chief Financial Officer. Christina Vera, President of the Columbus Board of Education, made the announcement, emphasizing the importance of finding a candidate with a solid financial leadership background. The search aims to fill the position by August 1, 2024.

"The Treasurer's Office stands as a cornerstone in meticulously managing taxpayer funds while steadfastly prioritizing the educational welfare of our students," said Vera. "It plays an integral role in ensuring that every dollar is judiciously allocated to uphold our District's highest educational excellence and equity standards."

The Treasurer/CFO, one of three direct reports to the Board of Education, oversees all financial affairs of the District, ensuring compliance with government regulations and supporting district initiatives. Responsibilities include budget creation, investment management, and collaborating with the Superintendent on financial strategies.

The Educational Service Center (ESC) of Central Ohio will oversee the national search process at no cost to the District. The Board is committed to a transparent and inclusive process to inform decision-making, with an anticipated selection by early summer. The District will soon post details on the timeline and application process for the Treasurer/Chief Financial Officer on the District website.

Currently serving as the District's interim treasurer, Jennifer Vanover will return to her role as Executive Director of Data & Processes. Vanover led the District through the November 2023 Levy and has maintained District transparency and financial stability.
