Columbus Downtown High School Career Cafe Opens To Public
Under the leadership of Culinary Arts Instructor Anthony Ruffin, the Columbus Downtown High School (CDHS) Career Café opened to the public today, Thursday, October 17.
With some Downtown High School staff members serving as the first patrons, culinary students produced and served some nutritional meals while demonstrating speed, accuracy, and efficiency skills.
Throughout the year the menu will vary and may consist of buffet items, a pasta bar, and an array of sandwiches such as: American burger, signature grill burger, coney dog, grilled cheese, turkey and cheese panini, grilled bologna, and grilled or fried chicken. Additionally, the Café will offer fresh homemade pizza and a soup of the day.
Side dishes will include french fries, cole slaw, sweet potato fries and a vegetable of the day. Beverages will also be available.
"Students will now get a chance to implement what they have learned in a restaurant setting providing meals for fellow students, teachers and community guests,” said Ruffin.
Career Café will offer a la carte items along with an affordable price-fixed menu between $5.00 and $8.00, and will be open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:15 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. All patrons must enter from the front doors on the south side of the building and be buzzed in.
