Rain couldn't dampen a Saturday filled with outdoor family fun at Columbus City Schools' Spruce Run Environmental Education Center.
Each month, the 50-acre nature preserve near Hoover Reservoir hosts a special Saturday of family activities.
Several parents and students took advantage of a free bus ride to the center, provided by the District's new Department of Engagement.
Kids and adults splashed about in the nearby creek, finding several different aquatic species.
In the greenhouse, students planted vegetable seeds in take-home containers for growing during the winter months.
And some of the younger students made art out of acorns and fallen leaves - perfect decorations for celebrating the fall season.
Another Free Family Fun Day at Spruce Run is scheduled for Saturday, November 16. You must RSVP to attend.
