Meeting Agenda Topics
The meeting agenda topics include:
5.1 - Interim Superintendent Dr. Angela Chapman will provide an Executive Report.
8.2 - Resolution to adopt Academic Calendars for the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 Academic Year.
13.2 - Supporting Strong Learning Communities in Every Region, and Equitable Opportunities for All, the Board will be asked to authorize the administration to enter into a purchase agreement with Lakeshore Equipment Company. In order to engage families in quality literacy practice at home, summer reading kits will be purchased for all students in grades K-3. These kits are customized by the CCS Literacy team and include materials that focus on the five key components of effective reading instruction, as recommended by the National Reading Panel and in alignment with The Science of Reading.
13.6 - Supporting Authentic Engagement, the Board will be asked to authorize the administration to enter into an agreement with The Franklin County Historical Society. The Franklin County Historical Society (COSI) will host 3rd-grade CCS students and families as a proactive intervention during spring break. This partnership will offer interactive activities to stimulate reading, comprehension, and extended discussion related to STEM and Literacy in an effort to cultivate authentic interest in reading. This partnership will extend the learning opportunity, keep students safe, and support families with additional resources for learning during spring break.
14.1 - The Board will be asked to authorize the administration to enter into an agreement to purchase support services for the Classlink software licensing. The Office of Technology is continually working to provide the most secure computing environment for our students as possible. Part of this effort is allowing students more discretion in the assignment of their own student passwords. To allow for this, the District needs to replace the current method for creating and maintaining student accounts.
16.1 - Supporting Equitable Opportunities for All and Authentic Engagement, the Board will be asked to approve the contract with Geiger Brothers, Inc. for the VAV Box Renewal Groups A-E Project, ITB No.865, and direct the board president and treasurer/CFO to execute the agreement for FY23 and FY24. Funded by the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund III (ESSER III), the District continues its efforts to reduce the amount of deferred maintenance and to gradually improve the condition of district facilities through a series of targeted improvements across multiple disciplines at multiple facilities. Based upon condition, multiple schools were identified for needed variable air volume box renewals.
16.5 - The Board will be asked to authorize the administration to purchase HVAC system repairs for Kingswood from The K Company Inc. Part of the Kingswood facility's ductwork has deteriorated and needs replacement.
