From the Desk of Aniyah Davis: Career Preparation

Aniyah Davis, a freshman at West High School, is back with another inside look at her academics. In her marketing class, Aniyah created a job readiness packet with a resume and cover letter. Take a look at the cover letter she created, pretending to apply to be a teacher at Avondale Elementary School.

Dear Avondale Elementary School,

My name is Aniyah Davis. It brings me great pleasure to apply for this third grade teaching job. I have so much respect for what the school does for all the kids. Teaching is becoming one of my passions. Working with kids from a very young age, I've started to love teaching and taking care of kids.

This skill has truly showed me patience and made me calmer. I have three nephews and one niece. This puts me in the unique position to work well with kids because I helped and worked with the four of them since they were newborns. I've been working with them since I was seven years old.

I pride myself on my childcare skills and my ability to adapt these skills to any new kid, even if it is a challenge. I look forward to the opportunity to bring these skills to your school. If offered this position, I would love to work with you. Please let me know any further questions.

Sincerely,

Aniyah Davis

With job preperation skills like a cover letter, Aniyah is prepared to apply for jobs and set herself up for a successful career in the future.
