September 20, 2021 -- Columbus City Schools high school marching bands and drill teams from across the District will be back in action on Saturday, October 2, for their first Marching Band Invitational since 2019. The event begins at 12:00 p.m. and will be held at Columbus Africentric Early College Stadium (CAEC).
The Marching Band Invitational will showcase high school marching bands presenting 7-9 minute performances, including drill teams and auxiliaries, followed by a final combination piece. More than a dozen CCS high schools are expected to participate.
Dr. Betty Hill, Supervisor of Unified Arts, explains that this is not a competition, rather a festival to celebrate music.
“This year specifically, the spirit of the event is to re-engage students and rebuild programs after a challenging year with COVID,” Hill said. “This will be an educational event for all students and directors.”
Come support and celebrate your CCS marching bands and drill teams, as they showcase their talents. Entrance fee is $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for students. Tickets can be purchased at the CAEC fieldhouse gate, or online by clicking here.
