CCS Career Tech Students Advance to State Competition
March 4, 2021 -- Seven Columbus City Schools Career and Technical Education (CTE) students are advancing to the state competition with the Business Professionals of America (BPA), a CTE student organization for their pathway.
“Our students worked extremely hard at the regional competition this year,” said Director of Career and Technical Education Celeste Lewis. “Before the pandemic, the regional competition was in person. This year it was virtual, but our students did not back down from this competitive challenge.”
“Feelings of fear and doubt overcame me when I first thought about participating in the BPA competition,” said junior Skye Cole. “Those feelings all went away when I dedicated myself to the competition. Participating in BPA allows me to gain real-life experience when it comes to submitting job applications and interviewing. I am so grateful for this opportunity.”
Thirty-four CCS Career Tech students placed in the top 10 at regionals in the following categories: Business Law and Ethics, Desktop Publishing, Advanced Desktop Publishing, Digital Communications, Marketing and Design, Interview Skills, and Advanced Interview Skills.
The CCS Career Tech students advancing to the state competition, which begins the week of March 8, are:
- Junior Daniel Bush, Business Law and Ethics
- Junior Anoulak Blanchet, Fundamental of Desktop Publishing
- Junior Skye Cole, Interview Skills and Digital Marketing Concepts
- Junior Samuel Garcia, Advanced Interview Skills
- Senior Ella Stevens, Advanced Desktop Publishing
- Senior Tiane Diop, Digital Communications and Design
