Where Will Your Indy Spirit Wear Go?!

From art museums and ball fields to pools and zoos, Indianola students spread their wings and explore! 

If you'd like to send in a fun where did your Indy spirit wear go over break photo, we'll put them on display. All travels, near and far- including the backyard, are worthwhile! 

Bring in a photo or email an image to Family Ambassador, Tricia Porostosky ( to share with the community.

Reminder: Columbus Museum of Art is free every Sunday, pay what you want Thurs evenings and Ohio History center is free the last hour, 4-5 pm. See below for a King Arts Complex event featuring Tuskegee Airman Colonel Charles McGee.

2019 Indianola Informal K-8 Graduate Award

The Indy PTO will award $500 this year to a student graduating from any area high school that attended Indianola Informal K-8 school for at least four years and graduated from 8th grade. Students must be planning to attend a college or other post-secondary program in the fall of 2019, and complete the online application, to be considered for this award. 
A recipient will be selected from the eligible applicants by a random lottery. He or she must then submit a class schedule from a college or post-secondary program to verify enrollment. Because Indianola students can reside in any area of the Columbus City School district, they may be enrolled in any high school following their Indianola experience. 
* Must have attended Indianola Informal K-8 for 4 or more years
* Must have graduated from 8th grade at Indianola
* Must complete the online application below 
* Recipient is chosen in random lottery and notified by the end of this school year
* To receive the award, must submit a class schedule from a college or other post-secondary program to verify enrollment
Deadline for submission is May 24, 2019. Winners will be notified by the end of the school year.

Mileage Club Returns

Following spring break, Mileage Club will return on Tuesday (April 30) and Thursday mornings. Meeting on the grassy playground (near Calumet) at 8:30, students get exercise walking laps!

Adults are needed to stamp cards and encourage walkers and runners. It's a terrific way to start your Tuesdays and Thursdays!

Libraries Offer Temporary Passes to Franklin Park Conservatory
Columbus Metropolitan Library card holders can now check out free temporary memberships to the Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. Launched in early July, the new initiative is a pilot program the conservatory is testing at two library branches: Martin Luther King at 1600 E. Long St., and Shepard at 850 N. Nelson Road.  The pass allows admission for two adults and up to six children and expires after two days. Photo identification and a library card must be shown at the library desk for in-person checkout.

**Community Days at the Conservatory, on the first Sunday of each month, the Conservatory will be free for residents of Franklin County and the City of Columbus during regular operating hours of 10am to 5pm.

Transit Arts 

FREE workshops for students in the areas of visual arts, hip hop dance (starting at age 5), and poetry. Transit Arts also provides open mic nights, info can be found at

Spruce Run Family Events

Spruce Run has monthly family events planned for the rest of the school year. Engage in meaningful outdoor learning and play with your child. Volunteer opportunities are also available.
