Africentric Middle School Students Complete Teens and Police Service Academy Program
December 6,1019 - On December 3, 2019, 22 Columbus Africentric Early College middle school students completed the 11-week Teens and Police Service Academy program. TAPS is a mentorship program in partnership with the Columbus Division of Police. A select number of students spent the first three weeks of the school year getting to know and trust police officers and see them as role models, not just as an authority figure with a uniform and badge.
The TAPS program allows students and officers to talk about ways to deal with bullying, drugs and gangs, among other things.
Congratulations to the 2019 CAEC TAPS class.
