Brought together by Interim Superintendent Dr. John Stanford, the 2018 Facilities Task Force, comprised of volunteer community and business partners, will assist in evaluating criteria and making recommendations on schools and administrative buildings the Board of Education might consider for closing and sale. The recommendations might also include changes in attendance boundaries and grade configurations.
After more than seven months of reviewing data, hearing from families and community members, and debating scenarios and alternatives, the 2018 Facilities Task Force voted on a series of final recommendations that could affect changes at 29 schools across the District, including the transformation of four high schools and expansion of academic opportunities at a fourth high school and a middle school. In addition, the community-led group recommended closing 7 buildings (four schools and three administrative sites).
