Documentation Guidelines
- PDF Preferred
- Must have the applicant's name on it.
- No personal letters accepted.
- If submitting documentation from a College/University, must be on their letterhead.
- If your documentation is dated over a year old, then recent documentation of classes attended will also need to be submitted.
- Examples: advising sheet, transcript, license/certificate etc.
Before you begin, what do you need?
- Your Student ID number from your college or university.
- If you are not a current student, please use 12345678.
- Please note: once your receive your ID number, please email that information to feewaivers@columbus.k12.oh.us
- If you are not a current student, please use 12345678.
- Your class information (name and code).
- Documentation that verifies your Priority status (PDF preferred).
- You are now ready to begin the application.
- Please allow time after you submit your application to ensure that additional documentation is not needed before the deadline.
Priority Status Guidelines
Priority I
Priority I: Present full-time professional staff members in M.A. or Ph.D. program who must finish course work during the upcoming semester or lose credits, and present full-time professional staff members, including vocational teachers, who must attend the university to maintain their present position because of certification requirements. DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED: copy of expiring certificate or letter verifying from university that you will lose credits.
Priority II
Priority II: Professional staff members on sabbatical leaves. (Such staff members shall be given sufficient script for full-time attendance, subject to availability.) Priority II also includes certificated staff enrolled in a Master's or Doctoral Program in a College of Education. DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED: a letter verifying that you are currently in the Master or Doctoral Program or an Endorsement Program on college letterhead.
Priority III
Priority III: All other applicants, not in priority groups I and II listed above, shall be considered on the basis of seniority in the Columbus City School System.
* If a request for additional documentation is not received by the deadline, you will automatically be placed in the appropriate Priority status.
*Although documentation is not required for all priority levels, it is still recommended for justification purposes.

The fee waiver application process is done using CCSDAS found on the Intranet/CCSNet. Click here using a district computer: CCSDAS
How will I know if I am approved for a fee waiver?
Once your application is electronically submitted, you will be notified that your application is pending by viewing the summery screen in CCSDAS. The Fee Waiver Committee will meet to approve or deny your application and you will receive an email from the CCSDAS system 2-3 weeks after the application deadline (please check your spam, junk, or clutter folders).
Otterbein, Ohio Dominican, Ashland and Capital all have paper certificates that you will need to turn in to your College/University. Once you receive the email of approval, the certificates will be sent through interoffice mail. *Autumn semesters only are sent to your home address.
Please sign and return the acknowledgement of receipt by the deadline or you risk forfeiting your fee waiver.
Can I still apply for a fee waiver if I don't know my College/University ID Number?
Yes, please enter 12345678 into the ID field of the electronic application, however your fee waiver cannot be applied to your account without your correct ID number. Once you receive your ID number, please email that information to feewaivers@columbus.k12.oh.us.

Ashland University

- Ashland Fee Waivers are available for Autumn and Spring semesters.
- One Fee Waiver is equivalent to $166 toward a Professional Development Services graduate workshop or $200 towards a graduate education course.
- The Fee Waiver to Ashland is a certificate that will be mailed to you through interoffice mail.
- For the Autumn session, the certificate will be mailed to your home address.
- It is your responsibility to register for your class and to submit your Fee Waiver to Ashland.
- You have 2 weeks to return your acknowledgment form, or you may forfeit your Fee Waiver.
- Please return the Fee Waiver certificate if you do not use it to Professional Learning & Licensure, 889 E. 17th Avenue Columbus, OH, 43211.

Antioch University
Please note: Due to a collaborative effort between Antioch University and Otterbein University, Fee Waivers for Antioch will be distributed in conjunction with Otterbein fee waiver applications.
- Antioch Fee Waivers are available for Autumn and Spring semesters. If any are available, they will be distributed for Summer semester, as well.
- One certificate is equivalent to one credit hour.
- An eligible employee may apply for two (2) certificates towards an Antioch course (School of Education courses only) per semester.
- The Fee Waivers will be issued in electronic form.
- It is your responsibility to register for your class.
- The number of Fee Waivers redeemed may not exceed the number of credit hours in which the holder is registered.
- Eligible employees utilizing Fee Waiver Certificate(s) during a term will be billed for any credits above those covered by the Certificate.
- Holders of Fee Waiver Certificates who drop all credit hours within the initial Antioch University Drop Deadline (usually the first three (3) days of the term), as appropriate, retain the right to use the Fee Waiver Certificate in another term if the Fee Waiver Certificate will still be valid; holders of Fee Waiver Certificates who drop all credit hours after the initial Drop Deadline forfeit any right to that Fee Waiver and the Fee Waiver is determined to be null and void.
- A Fee Waiver Certificate is applicable to tuition only and may not be applied to special fees, lab fees, technology fees, Capstone fees, textbooks, etc.
- Please inform Professional Learning and Licensure if you drop the intended class and will no longer use the assigned Fee Waiver.
- You may accumulate up to twelve (12) semester hours of graduate credit at the University before being required to be admitted to a specific program. Holding a Fee Waivers Certificate does not grant you the right to circumvent this requirement. The University is not obligated to admit employees to any program who would not otherwise meet eligibility requirements.
Capital University
- Capital Fee Waivers are available only for Autumn, Spring and Summer semesters.
- One Fee Waiver is equivalent to 4 credit hours (5 Max).
- The Fee Waiver to Capital University is a certificate that will be mailed to you through interoffice mail.
- For the Autumn session, the certificate will be mailed to your home address.
- It is your responsibility to register for your class and to submit your Fee Waiver to Capital.
- You have 2 weeks to return your acknowledgement form, or you may fortfeit your Fee Waiver.
