Superintendent Dixon Submits Written Testimony to Senate Finance Committee

May 19, 2020 -- Columbus City Schools Superintendent Dr. Talisa Dixon submitted written testimony to the Ohio Senate Finance Committee on Monday regarding the topic of reopening schools for the 2020-2021 school year and the financial challenges the District faces in doing so to properly follow CDC, state, and local health guidelines and recommendations.

Dr. Dixon shared with the Senate committee the extensive budgetary challenges that exist in operating a district of CCS’s size and scope in the best of times, let alone during the current COVID-19 crisis.

Columbus City Schools, along with hundreds of other school districts in Ohio, face the uncertainty of what revenues may be as the State discusses further reductions and uncertainty of what expenses may be in order to bring students back safely in the fall.
