Proud Moment at the Statehouse!
From: Principal NickersonYesterday, I had the incredible privilege of supporting our 9th grade Student Council member, Ebenezer Vasquez-Fuentes, as he delivered powerful testimony before a Senate committee at the Ohio Statehouse. Ebenezer spoke with poise, courage, and a deep understanding of the needs of CCS students. His words resonated with the committee, earning him praise from the senators and a round of heartfelt applause from the audience. We are beyond proud of Ebenezer’s advocacy and his willingness to use his voice to represent South High School and Columbus City Schools in such a dynamic and impactful way.A special shoutout to fellow Student Council members Shay’nna Bennett and Tyrese Ingram, who stood by Ebenezer with unwavering moral support during a nearly 3-hour wait. Their patience and solidarity were inspiring. The students also toured the Capitol and were recognized by Ohio State representative Erika White for their bravery and leadership. Please join me in congratulating these outstanding young leaders! The future is bright with students like them lighting the way. -
