City League Stars: Christiana Towns and Tamiya Harrington
February 16, 2024 -- Christiana Towns is a stand-out freshman on the Linden-McKinley STEM Academy Girls Basketball Team. The Fort Hayes student averages 18 points and 10 rebounds per game, including a 35-point and 25-rebound game against Marion-Franklin High School. The 2024 First Team All-City athlete and co-captain has goals to make girls basketball great in the Linden Community.
Co-captain and senior Tamiya Harrington knows first-hand adversity. Her team only had 5 players last year, and they only won 3 games. There was uncertainty whether Linden would even have a girls basketball team this year, but the 2023 First Team All-City player took charge and made sure that Linden-McKinley would have a team this year. Harrington helped her team win 7 games this year, compared to only 3 games last year. (*several losses this year by 5 points or less)
Head Coach Felicia Crenshaw expressed the pride she holds for her athletes and the roles in changing the culture of the Linden-Mckinley Girls Basketball Program. She believes Towns and Harrington's hard work on and off the court speaks for itself and would bring about positive change to a college program.
