Board of Education Meeting
Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at 5:30 p.m.

Viewing the Board Meeting

The Columbus Board of Education regular business meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Southland Center (3700 S. High St.). 

Meeting attendees will need to enter the north-facing door toward the west end of the building.

The Board will conclude with an Executive Session, per Section 121.22 (G)(1) Ohio Revised Code, to consider the appointment, employment, or compensation of public employees.

Meeting Agenda Topics

The meeting agenda topics include:

4.1 - Superintendent Dr. Talisa Dixon will provide an executive report regarding November literacy initiatives

13.3 - Supporting a Whole-Child Focus and Equitable Opportunities for All, the Board will be asked to authorize the administration to enter into an agreement with the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. The partnership continues to provide an engaging portfolio of immersive learning, serving all students in aquatic and STEM related paths.

17.1 - Ensuring Equitable Opportunities for All, the Board will be asked to authorize the administration to enter into an agreement with the Educational Service Center of Central Ohio to hire 15 Student Attendance Support Specialists. The positions will work with students and families identified and provide early intentional strategies and interventions to identify barriers, monitor progress, and support consistent school attendance.

18.1 - Supporting a Whole-Child Focus and Equitable Opportunities for All, the Board will be asked to approve a contract with Miles-McClellan Construction Co., Inc, for the PrimaryOne Health, School Based Health Clinic Project at the Columbus North International School and Columbus Global Academy building.

23.1 - Supporting a Whole-Child Focus, Equitable Opportunities for All, and Authentic Engagement, the Board will be asked to authorize the administration to enter into an agreement with Stay Driven LLC. Stay Driven LLC takes a multi-faceted approach to addressing the social-emotional health of students. The program combines leadership development, community engagement, and awareness among schools' most vulnerable demographics while exposing them to career opportunities.

Making a Public Comment

Any public participant wishing to make comments has the option of addressing the Board in person or by telephone. To sign up, public participants must call to leave a voicemail with Customer Relations at 614-365-8888 or email customerrelations@columbus.k12.oh.us by 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1. Speakers will need to provide their name, topic, and phone number.
