Superintendent's Message: Fair School Funding - A CCS Community Town Hall
Dear Columbus City Schools Families, Colleagues, and Community Members,
I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to each of you who have spoken up, written letters, provided public testimony, and stood alongside us in advocating for fair school funding for our public schools.
Thanks to our collective efforts, state leaders are paying closer attention to the real needs of our students, schools, and community. While there is still work to do, your advocacy is helping to move the conversation in the right direction—and it’s making a real impact.
As part of our continued efforts, I invite you to attend Fair School Funding: A CCS Community Town Hall hosted by the Columbus Board of Education on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at East High School, located at 1500 E. Broad Street. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Moderated by Amelia Robinson, Opinion and Community Engagement Editor for The Columbus Dispatch, this town hall will bring together educators, lawmakers, and members of our community for a vital conversation about the state of public education and the proposed biennial state budget, including its direct impact on Columbus City Schools.
Featured Panelists:
-
Jennifer Adair, Board of Education Vice President
-
Hearcel F. Craig, State Senator- District 15
-
Munira Abdullahi, State Representative - District 9
-
Latyna Humphrey, State Representative - District 2
-
Beryl Brown Piccolantonio, State Representative - District 4
At this event, we’ll provide an update on where things stand in the state legislature, how proposed funding levels could affect our schools, and what next steps we can take, together, as a community. The Town Hall will also include a panel of state representatives, and there will be time for open dialogue and questions.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. I look forward to seeing many of you on May 7 as we continue this important work together.
Yours faithfully,
Dr. Angela Chapman
