Columbus Board of Education President and Vice President Elected to a Second Term
January 6, 2021- At Tuesday evening’s Columbus Board of Education (BOE) organizational meeting, the Board voted unanimously that Jennifer Adair and Ramona Reyes serve a second year as President and Vice President of the Board of Education respectively.
President Adair, who was re-elected to the Board last year, shared that positioning CCS students first has always been the guiding principle of this Board.
“Governing this District, working together with our administrative team, representing the community that we were all elected to serve, patience, gratitude, learning from the past, optimism, forward progress, putting students first, collective success, getting to work, equity and academic progress. These are all the things we have committed to one another and to our community going forward this year,” said Adair. “We have done a lot of work, and we have a lot more to do.”
A graduate of Centennial High School, Adair currently serves the State of Ohio as a Diversity & Inclusion professional, as the Equal Employment Opportunity Program Manager at the Ohio Department of Administrative Services.
Ramona Reyes is in her third term on the Board of Education after being re-elected in January 2017. The first Hispanic elected member of the Board, she is the director of Our Lady of Guadalupe Center at Catholic Social Services and previously worked at Nationwide Insurance.
“2020 was very challenging,” said Reyes.“I want to start by thanking my colleagues. There was a lot of strife and difficulty in 2020 personally and professionally for many of us, and I want to thank you all for your patience throughout 2020. I am happy to reconnect with this Board. As many of you know, I’ve been on this Board for quite a while and have seen many configurations of this Board. This Board is just running on all cylinders. We are strong and moving forward.”
