Dr. Dixon Weekly Message

Dear CCS Community,

Today is the last day of school for all Columbus City Schools following the traditional calendar. It has been a challenging year, to say the least. However, it has also been a year filled with opportunity, growth, and accomplishments that deserve to be celebrated.

We returned to in-person learning while still navigating a global pandemic and, together, shaped a successful school year.

We pushed forward to complete the important work of engaging the community and establishing priorities to introduce our new, student-centered Strategic Plan: The Power of One and our Portrait of a Graduate to the entire CCS community.

We nurtured relationships with our community partners and also established new partnerships to grow our community support. From the Columbus Crew to Nationwide Children’s Hospital and Primary One Health to City Year, we have continued to grow our relationships and provide more resources and support to our students and families.

We announced the STEAMM Rising initiative, in collaboration with Ohio State, the City of Columbus, and Columbus State, to grow the next generation of teachers and students focused on innovation.

We reimagined learning opportunities and welcomed students and families at various family-friendly destinations throughout the school year through our new Pathway Express.

We joined the City of Columbus, Columbus State, I Know I Can, and business leaders across central Ohio to provide a historic opportunity for our students and their families - The Columbus Promise.

We planned yet another exciting, community-based Summer Experience to keep our students engaged, learning, and growing throughout the summer.

And summer engagement isn’t just for students. We have in store a multitude of professional development opportunities for our teachers and staff so that we may continue to learn and grow to best serve our students and families.

Without a doubt, we have proven the power in partnerships here in Columbus. With students Leading the Way, the CCS community can and will continue to accomplish the incredible.

Thank you all so much for your partnership in supporting all our amazing students this year. Have a safe and wonderful summer break, CCS! And let’s all encourage the students, teachers, and staff at Woodcrest Elementary to finish their school year strong next week!

Sincerely,

Talisa Dixon
