May 26, 2022 -- Columbus City Schools is committed to creating equitable access to teaching and learning. Looking ahead to the 2022-2023 school year, the district is introducing Canvas as its new learning management system for students and teachers in grades K-12. The online platform will serve as a centralized location for student learning that helps deliver, track, and report on classes and assignments. 

“The pandemic taught us the importance of being able to provide high-quality instruction in in-person and online classrooms,” said Superintendent/CEO Dr. Talisa Dixon. “Canvas will introduce new and familiar tools in one hub, and it’s going to enhance collaboration and communication among students. For parents, it gives real-time feedback to keep them aware of their student’s progress in their classes. Our Department of Learning Technology also recognizes Canvas is the main digital learning tool for most colleges and universities, and we’re able to give CCS students a head start on what 21st century learning looks like at the next level.” 

Canvas provides parents and students with increased access to classroom curriculum and expectations, including online textbooks, assessments, discussions, and resources curated by their teachers. By enhancing learning experiences, CCS aims to create a more robust learning environment for all students.

Through Canvas, students can remain engaged with teachers and peers beyond the classroom, and parents can further participate in their student’s academic journey thanks to increased access to classroom information.
