New Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
Due to the new safety detector system in place beginning Thursday, February 22, 2023, our arrival and dismissal routes are changing. Please see the images below.

Middle School Updates
- Thursday, Feb 23, 2023 students’ that have had it in the B.A.G (Behavior: Zero suspensions, Attendance: 90% or higher, Grades: No “F’s”) for the first and/or second quarter will be rewarded with a free skating trip to Skate Zone 71.
- Middle School Math Showcase on Friday, Feb. 24th. It is sponsored by the Gifted Dept. and held at the Main Library downtown, during the school day.

Dress Code
All students are expected to wear dress code.
Grades 9-12: Black polo tops and khaki bottoms.
Grades PK-8: Purple polo tops and khaki bottoms.
This is an expectation that is strictly enforced.

CAEC Student Artist Wins Award for Artwork!
We would like to congratulate JJ Brown for receiving the Honorable Mention Award for the 4th Annual Otterbein High School Art Exhibition! She received this award for her photograph titled "Little Brother." JJ is now officially eligible for the talent scholarship if she attends Otterbein University. Congratulations to JJ for being the first CAEC student to place in the top 5 for this art exhibition!

Co-Creator of LETRS Literacy Program Visits Columbus City Schools Teachers for Professional Development Training
Dr. Carol Tolman, an international literacy consultant and co-author of LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling), visited teachers for a training session. LETRS is a tool that will help teachers understand how a child’s brain works as they learn to read.

In February, Columbus City Schools launched the Academic Calendars Survey for CCS community members to gather comments and feedback about the proposed calendars for the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 school years.

Columbus City Schools Remembers Dr. Larry Mixon, Sr.
Dr. Mixon served Columbus Public Schools as Superintendent for five years from 1993-1997. He created a new Strategic Plan for Columbus Public Schools, emphasizing academic achievement, fiscal responsibility, healthy learning environments, and parent involvement.

Columbus Africentric Early College won the OHSAA Division III State Championship with a monumental victory over Doylestown Chippewa, 75-62.
