    ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL

    • School begins at 9:00 am and students can arrive as early as 8:30 am for breakfast. Students should not arrive prior to the start of breakfast as they are unattended to. All students go to the side of the building and enter into the cafeteria doors for breakfast. Students arriving after 9:00 am are considered tardy and will need to come to the front doors to buzz in and be signed in to the tardy log by a parent.

    • Dismissal begins at 3:15 pm. If you are picking a student up early, please come before 3:00 pm, as we do not dismiss students after, in order to prepare for dismissal. If you are picking a student up early who normally rides the bus, please call the office at (614) 365-6135, prior to 3:00 pm, so that the teacher can be notified. Car riders are dismissed first at 3:15pm in our car rider lane. Please stay in your vehicle. Staff are outside with walkies and students will come out to your car. Please do not park and come to the door to get a student as we will not call the student out, you must be in the car rider lane for pick-up. Walkers are dismissed at 3:30pm.

    ABSENT STUDENTS

If a student is going to be absent for the day, please call the office at (614) 365-6135, email the secretary a note to attendance.somifflin@columbus.k12.oh.us or send in a written note or medical excuse. Please note, parents only have up to 9 times to send a note that your student will be absent, before a medical excuse is required. Anytime we do not receive an absent note, the absence is considered unexcused.

    LATE ARRIVALS AND EARLY LEAVES

Anytime a student arrives at school late or leaves early, the student will need to be signed in/out of the appropriate log, located in the vestibule. Please make sure when you are signing a student in late or picking up early, you are noting the reason on the log. If it is left blank or does not meet one of the district approved reasons, the student will be marked tardy unexcused or early leave unexcused. Late arrivals and early leaves do affect students' attendance, so please be mindful of this when dropping off late or picking up early.
