Columbus Alternative High School Receives High Marks for College Readiness and Academic Development
October 14, 2020 -- Columbus Alternative High School received a 9 out of 10, with 10 being the highest rating, for its efforts to prepare students for academic success, according to a national education group. In addition to CAHS, another District high school, a middle school, and 12 elementary schools were nationally rated by the same organization.
GreatSchools.org is a non-profit organization that has been around for over 20 years. The website rates schools across the country on improvements in test scores, college readiness, and academic development of underserved students.
GreatSchools.org rates and publishes the growth students make on test scores as a guide for parents to help them find the right school for their family. The firm also shows the efforts the school is making to improve the community through academic development, education, and cultural programs.
“CAHS administration and staff are honored to be recognized for our unwavering commitment to academic excellence for all students," said Darryl C. Sanders, Principal of Columbus Alternative High School. "It’s always rewarding to see that CAHS students can compete in the same academic field as their suburban counterparts. This honor makes our school’s motto a reality: CAHS, where Academic Excellence is the Standard and not the Exception.”
