Superintendent's Weekly Message - June 11, 2021

Dear CCS Community,

As we close out the 2020-2021 school year, let me take one more opportunity to express my deepest appreciation. Thank you. We could not have gotten through this unprecedented year without your support, resilience, and perseverance.

Yesterday was the last day for our year-round school Woodcrest Elementary. There’s nothing like that feeling when you reach that milestone; the last day of school and the start of summer. While getting through this year was challenging, difficult, and even painful at times, we did it.

Your Partnership Made This Year Possible
We succeeded this year because we had partners. Unbelievable partners who made sure our Columbus City Schools students received basic needs such as food and clothing during the global pandemic and technology to continue learning.

Thank you to the partners that provided everything from Chromebooks and Wi-Fi hotspots to meals and learning extension centers for our students and families.

In this District’s 175 history, never have our partners risen to such heights providing unprecedented support. The power of partnerships also makes this an unparalleled year for Columbus City Schools.

Planning for the 2021-2022 School Year
While today marks the end of another school year, we are already working on the next school year, where we plan in-person learning five days a week. In addition, there is a virtual option called BlendED for a small percentage of students who prefer the digital learning platform. On Tuesday, June 15, at the Board of Education meeting, we will share more details about the 2021 – 2022 school year.

In the meantime, have a joyful summer. Get out and safely enjoy the wonders of our community and wherever your travels take you. As Superintendent, I appreciate you and all your efforts to support the whole CCS student to reach their full potential.

Sincerely,

Talisa Dixon
