Board of Education Unanimously Approves Dr. Katina Foley As New Building Principal at Weinland Park Elementary
June 3, 2020 -- At its regular business meeting on June 2, the Columbus Board of Education unanimously approved the appointment of Dr. Katina Foley as the new building principal for Weinland Park Elementary as part of its consent agenda.
"Columbus City Schools is committed to cultivating a challenging and enriching educational environment that encourages our students to reach their full potential," said Dr. Angela Chapman, CCS Chief of Transformation and Leadership. "As we prepare for the start of the 2020-2021 school year, the leadership of Columbus City Schools (CCS) is building a strong foundation of building administrators committed to providing a high-quality education in a safe, secure, and nurturing environment.
"I am pleased to announce the selection of Dr. Katina Foley as your new principal of Weinland Park Elementary School for the 2020-2021 school year."
Dr. Foley returns to Weinland Park, where she previously taught. She brings a wide range of knowledge and experience in many areas of K-12 education, having worked in several teaching and administrative roles within CCS since 2009, and the central Ohio area.
For the past year, she has served the students and families at Avalon Elementary. As a lead administrator at the school, she has worked to strengthen student and staff relationships, guided curriculum development, and implemented targeted instructional goals and effective interventional strategies to increase student success. Before her assignment at Avalon, Dr. Foley worked as an instructional coach at Moler Elementary School. She is currently an Adjunct Professor at Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU).
Dr. Foley earned her Doctorate from the University of Phoenix. She holds two Masters Degrees – Educational Administration from The Ohio State University and Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Education from Ohio Dominican University. She has received numerous honors and awards and is a member of the MVNU Teacher Education Advisory Committee, Leaders of Tomorrow – National Black MBA Association, and the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa.
