Young Learners and the Worker Bees

West Mound students

Bees do more than buzz, was the lesson from Mrs. Kirk

Her kindergarten class at West Mound Elementary got quite a perk

Design a pollinator using a flower and a bee

That’s how the pollen makes the fruits you see

From those fruits come the seeds

Soon more plants are where that process leads

It’s called pollination, but that’s a big word

Four syllables are all these little ones heard

So Ms. Kirk told her class to use their hands

Create a colorful flower where bees can land

Using pipe cleaners and plastic

The student’s creations were fantastic

Their colors included pink, blue, and green

The children were so proud they had to be seen

That is just one lesson being taught this summer

The curriculum at Columbus City Schools continues to be a stunner
