Dear Columbus City Schools Families,
Columbus City Schools has established a plan to allow families and students to safely retrieve personal belongings left behind on March 13 after the state ordered the closure of all Pre-K through 12 school buildings.
The process will run Tuesday, May 26, through Friday, May 29.
Our priority is to keep you healthy and safe. Students and parents will not be permitted to enter the buildings. Following the guidance of our public health officials and our CCS Health Services Director, we have taken numerous precautions to allow families and students to retrieve any items left in cubbies, desks, and lockers.
To minimize interactions between people, all schools will provide curbside pick-up for families and students to pick-up personal belongings. Items will be bagged and tagged with the student’s name and delivered curbside to your vehicle. Students and families are encouraged to wear masks when picking up materials.
Students may also drop off any school equipment during this time, including textbooks, instruments, uniforms, and other school materials used during the year. Families will not be required to turn in loaned Chromebooks or hotspot devices until the start of the 2020-2021 school year. Any student planning to transfer out of the District must also return all school equipment and/or supplies during this timeframe.
Your student’s building principal will contact you with specific details on this process, including a pick-up and drop-off schedule. Please follow the school schedule and pick up items while practicing safe social distancing practices. After you’ve picked up your child’s belongings, we ask that you exit the campus. The District’s Safety and Security personnel will be on hand to provide additional support during the week.
We thank you for partnering in your child’s education and for your patience as we continue to navigate this unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic.
