CCS to Restart Winter Sports Practices on January 15
CCS winter sports teams can begin games and competitions on January 24
Jan. 12, 2021 -- Columbus City Schools Superintendent/CEO Dr. Talisa Dixon announced during the Board of Education Special Meeting on Tuesday that the District will allow winter sports teams to begin in-person practices on Friday, January 15.
Winter sports teams can compete in games or meets beginning on January 24, which is the first day after the end of the current joint health advisory from Columbus Public Health and Franklin County Public Health.
If the public health advisory is extended beyond January 23, CCS will reevaluate the plan for games and competitions after that date.
Seasonal activities, including musical theater and show choir, will be permitted to start after February 3.
CCS originally suspended in-person athletics and activities on November 21, 2020, in response to the joint public health advisory.
The Board of Education held a special meeting on Tuesday to discuss in-person athletics and extracurricular activities. Click here to watch a replay of the meeting.
