Student Ambassadors Celebrate with Holiday Dinner
December 21, 2022 -- Ahead of Winter Break, Columbus City Schools’ Superintendent Student Ambassadors joined Superintendent Dr. Talisa Dixon at Columbus Downtown High School to celebrate their success.
The students are part of the Superintendent Mentorship Program that brings together CCS high school students who have a passion and drive to impact their community. During the first semester, the students selected for the program worked with CCS mentors to take their learning outside the classroom and hone their leadership skills. They participated in learning workshops and creative projects designed to cater to their interests.
At the holiday celebration, students and their building leaders were treated to a dinner prepared by the talented culinary students at Columbus Downtown. They took time to reflect on their successes and plan for the future. Students from each school presented a plan to impact their building and fellow students. Ideas ranged from addressing hunger in their school communities to senior/freshman buddy systems to help new students adjust to high school.
Dr. Dixon was thrilled with the students’ suggestions, and the student ambassadors are excited to put their plans into action in the new year.
