15.2 - Supporting Whole-Child Focus, Strong Learning Communities in Every Region, Equitable Opportunities for All, and Authentic Engagement, the Board will be asked to authorize the administration to enter into an agreement with I Know I Can. As central Ohio's only college access and success organization, IKIC's mission is to inspire, enable, and support Columbus City Schools students in pursuing and completing a postsecondary education. Services include college counseling, ACT/SAT preparation, college application completion, fee waivers, and FAFSA support. College retention and persistence efforts, focused on new high school graduates and current college students, to ensure degree completion. Services include pre-enrollment advising, career counseling, financial education, and grant and scholarship assistance.
17.3 - Supporting Equitable Opportunities for All and Authentic Engagement, the Board will be asked to authorize the administration to enter into an agreement with Custom Controls Group for fire replacements at Medina Middle School. The district will prioritize this project due to the poor condition of fire alarm systems, focused at legacy facilities. Existing systems are at or beyond their anticipated useful lives, resulting in higher maintenance costs, systems that do not comply with many modern requirements, and require a disproportionate amount of service and support. These projects will focus on making investments in fire alarm systems, including features such as both audible and visual notifications, voice annunciation, and automated notification for emergency response.
