Columbus City School Introduces #TogetherWeReadCCS Virtual Storytime
November 17, 2022 -- Last school year, Columbus City Schools introduced its #TogetherWeReadCCS at-home library initiative. This investment in literacy and reading has allowed the district to put new books and novels in the hands of all 47,000 students!
Whether it’s as a family or alone, reading can lead to growth in and outside of the classroom, and an appreciation of the written word can take students far in life.
As we strive to help students nurture and discover their love of reading, we’re excited to launch our #TogetherWeReadCCS virtual storytime. Throughout the year, families are invited to join our guest readers and enjoy stories found in book bundles going home with students each quarter.
In the first episode of our #TogetherWeReadCCS storytime, we’re joined by Superintendent/CEO Dr. Talisa Dixon to read Red Shoes by author Karen English and illustrator Ebony Glenn. Red Shoes is the story of two young girls unknowingly bonded by a shiny new pair of red shoes.
Whether this is your first or 101st time reading Red Shoes, we hope it resonates with students and families.
