Dec. 13, 2019 -- Avondale Elementary students received an early holiday surprise today. Students from the Mount Carmel College of Nursing along with the jolly old elf himself, Santa Claus, stopped by to hand-deliver wrapped gifts to every student in the school.

Each year the College of Nursing students, staff and other volunteers fulfill two to three items on the students’ holiday wish-list and delivers them to each classroom. The nursing students, volunteers and Santa stays with each class as the children open their gifts and it is always an emotional time.

“We are so thankful that the Mount Carmel School of Nursing provides this annual support of providing gifts for our students, and for creating such a joyous experience for our students with an early visit from Santa,” said Principal April Knight.

Of course the morning activities included some playtime. Wish-list items included remote-controlled cars, Lego sets, Barbie Dolls, arts sets, and even a Hot Wheels racing track.
