CCS Announces New Assistant Principalships for of the 2024-2025 School Year

August 29, 2024 -- Columbus City Schools is pleased to announce three new assistant principalships as part of the 2024-2025 school year. 

Berwick Alternative K-8

elaine turnerWe are excited to welcome Elaine Turner as the new Assistant Principal of Berwick Alternative K-8. Elaine's extensive experience and dedication to student success make her a valuable addition to our leadership team.

Elaine has been a member of Columbus City Schools since 2009, serving as a classroom teacher and, most recently, Instructional Coach at Berwick K-8. Her contributions have enhanced instructional practices, provided data-driven strategies, and fostered a collaborative environment among staff, students, and parents.

In addition to her work during the school year, Elaine has been the Summer Experience Elementary District Coordinator since 2017. In this capacity, she has showcased her skills in logistical planning, professional development, and support for building coordinators, ensuring a successful summer program for our students.

Elaine's academic credentials include a Master's in Educational Leadership from the University of Kentucky and a Bachelor's in Elementary Education from Kentucky State University. She also holds a 5-year Professional Principal License and various early childhood and generalist endorsements.

Elaine is known for her goal-oriented mindset, collaborative spirit, and organizational skills. Her dedication to fostering a supportive and enriching learning environment aligns perfectly with our mission at Berwick Alternative K-8.

Centennial High School

celeste gaverWe are excited to share that Celeste Gaver has been appointed as the new Assistant Principal at Centennial High School. Celeste brings a wealth of experience and a strong dedication to creating an equitable and engaging learning environment for all students.

Since joining Columbus City Schools in 2010, Celeste has been a committed educator, serving in various roles, including Adapted Physical Education Teacher and Leadership Intern. In her recent roles as a Leadership Intern at Colerain Elementary School and Leawood Elementary School, she has collaborated closely with teachers to implement evidence-based strategies and data-driven instruction, ensuring equitable access to learning resources for every student. Her extensive experience and proven success make her an ideal fit for the Assistant Principal role at Centennial High School.

Celeste's educational background further underscores her qualifications. She holds a Master of Arts in Physical Activity and Educational Services from The Ohio State University and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership Studies from Ashland University.

Celeste's passion for education and leadership is both evident and inspiring. Her numerous accomplishments, including serving as a Summer Experience Building Administrator and conducting equity-focused learning walks to create diverse and equitable learning environments, are a testament to her dedication. Her unwavering commitment to student success, as shown through her strong relationships with students, staff, and families, is perfectly in line with our school's mission and will undoubtedly inspire our entire community.

We are delighted to welcome Celeste Gaver to the Centennial High School family. Her appointment as Assistant Principal fills us with enthusiasm, and we look forward to the positive impact she will have on our school. We eagerly anticipate the contributions and exciting changes she will bring.

Columbus International High School

elizabeth millerWe are pleased to announce Elizabeth Miller's appointment as the new Assistant Principal at Columbus International High School. Ms. Miller brings a wealth of experience and a strong background in educational leadership to our school community.

Ms. Miller holds a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Ashland University and a Bachelor of Science in Education from The Ohio State University. Her extensive experience includes serving as a Leadership Intern at Centennial High School, where she played a crucial role in analyzing matriculation data, providing actionable feedback to support teachers, and cultivating an inclusive school environment. She has also been a dedicated 8th Grade Science and Social Studies teacher at South High School, significantly increasing standardized test scores and establishing solid relationships with students, parents, and staff.

In addition to her teaching and leadership roles, Ms. Miller has demonstrated her commitment to student success through her involvement in various committees, such as the Building Leadership Team (BLT) and the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Committee. Her innovative approach to curriculum development and her focus on student achievement has been evident throughout her career.
