Columbus City Schools Celebrates District Champions for Track and Field Spring 2024
June 4, 2024 — The Columbus City Schools community proudly congratulates the 2024 District track and field champions. After months of dedicated training and exceptional performances, CCS student-athletes demonstrated outstanding skill and perseverance throughout the spring 2024 season.
“We are always working to get on that State podium,” said Jason Lewis, boys track and field coach at Eastmoor High School. “I’ve learned that you are always learning. The kids teach me as I teach them. They are fantastic.”
Throughout the season, students and coaches have worked hard, learning from each other and competing fiercely against the region's top athletes. Their commitment to excellence and teamwork has paid off, leading them to this significant achievement as District champions.
The journey towards these victories was not without its challenges. CCS athletes balanced rigorous academic schedules with demanding training sessions, demonstrating their ability to excel on track and in the classroom. Coaches and staff have provided invaluable support, guiding students to hone their talents and reach new heights.
"I practice almost every day, six days a week," said Dewayne Davis, eleventh grade student at Centennial High School. "You will get better as long as you put in the work and keep working on your form."
CCS celebrates this accomplishment and thanks all students for their hard work and dedication. The District would like to extend congratulations to the following students:
