Superintendent’s Letter to CCS Families - August 21, 2020
Hello CCS Families,
At this week’s meeting of the Columbus Board of Education, our Operations team presented an overview of the work they have been doing to prepare for the start of the school year.
As you’ll see from watching the presentation, much thought, effort, and planning has gone into determining how best to safely reopen our district when public health conditions allow in-person classes. This includes:
- Transportation Procedures
- Social Distancing in Classrooms and School Buildings
- Food Services and Meal Distribution
- Cleaning and Disinfecting
- Buildings and Grounds
- Central Office Buildings
- COVID-19 Tracking and Response

Shipment of New Chromebook Computers
I am happy to report that we have received ALL of the 20,000 new Chromebook computers that we purchased with CARES Act funding from the City of Columbus. The last shipment of these devices came in last week -- two weeks ahead of schedule -- and we are now in the process of getting them ready to distribute to students before the start of the school year.
As a reminder, the City of Columbus was gracious enough to support our students by donating more than $7 million dollars to purchase these 20,000 computers.
Thank you once again to Mayor Andrew Ginther and Columbus City Council members for their continued partnership and support. Please be on the lookout for information from your school about when and how to pick up Chromebooks, classroom materials, instructional resources, and other items prior to the start of classes on September 8.
Sincerely,
Talisa Dixon
