    Eakin Vision: 100% of Eakin Students will read at grade level by the end of the 3rd grade, prepared to transition to reading to learn by the end of 5th grade. This will be measured by each student's success in communicating in multiple ways, both verbally and in print.

    School Philosophy

    Our vision for Eakin Elementary School family and community is one in which all learners, both children and adults, grow and succeed in the 21st century.  We celebrate the diversity of cultures and value individual differences. We work to support our learners and expect the very best, because our students are capable and we believe in them.

    Curriculum

    Reading, Math, English as a Second Language, Science, Social Studies, Health, Art, Music and Physical Education are aligned to Ohio’s Learning Standards. Students have an opportunity to use chrome books, thin client computers, Smart Boards and other technology in the classroom. 

    Community Partnerships

    Eakin partners with Community in Schools to provide integrated student support. Our CIS site coordinator works with volunteers, partners and the local community to provide students with the support they need to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.  Final Third Foundation partners with Eakin to provide a Soccer & Literacy Program in partnership with Columbus Recreation and Parks Department. This after-school program  promotes health, wellness, achievement, leadership and character development, both on and off the field. MY Project USA, a local non-profit, is partnering with Eakin to provide after-school programming  (ASP) at Eakin for students in grades 3-5 with funding obtained from ODE last spring. The purpose of the grants awarded to community organizations is to assist with the important work of closing gaps, assisting ELL students. The Rise program is a multi-discipline experience which supports students as they explore technology, games, reading & math, and grow up to be leaders & strong community members.
